Season 4 Finale

Hey everyone,
Before we dive into Season 5, I wanted to take a moment to properly wrap up Season 4.

First off—thank you to every guest who joined me this season. It’s always humbling to know that people are willing to sit down and share their experiences with me. If you knew how simple my process was, you might be surprised. There's no intense vetting, no fancy prep. I just reach out and ask, “Wanna be on the podcast?” And most of the time, the answer is yes. That simplicity keeps it human. And as a designer, that’s what I care about—removing friction while keeping the soul.

This season had so many rich conversations around the hiring process, breaking into UX, navigating setbacks, and what to do when nothing seems to be going your way. We touched on tough truths: how broken the job market feels, how it’s possible to do everything right and still not feel good enough, and how generalists often get overlooked—not because they're unqualified, but because they're harder to place on paper.

I’ve come to realize just how much of this podcast now speaks to the struggles of junior designers and anyone navigating this messy job market. That wasn’t always the intention. When I started this show, it was honestly for me. I came from Don’t Quit, which felt like my pride and joy at the time. But UX Growth took off—faster, easier, and with more direction. And now it’s something more than just a passion project. It’s a platform. A way to amplify voices in our industry, especially for those trying to find their place in it.

There’s still so much broken in the hiring system. Too many job postings feel disconnected from reality. Too many interviews favor performance over process. And too many talented designers feel invisible. But I truly believe—if you ask the right questions, reflect, and stay curious—there is a way forward. And this podcast exists to help you find that.

To every listener who stuck around—even during the recent three-month break (shoutout to my immune system for that one)—thank you. Life got busy. I started a new job working with kids, and between that and getting sick, time just slipped by. But here we are.

And funny enough, I didn’t plan for the episode with Joseph to be the finale, but it ended on such a strong note. If you haven’t heard it yet, go back and give it a listen. He’s a brilliant mind. But honestly, every guest this season brought something powerful. There’s no gatekeeping here. No grifting. Just real people trying to help each other grow. That’s something I take a lot of pride in—especially coming from the self-improvement space where things weren’t always that genuine.
